Simultaneous pregnancy in
each cavity of a uterus didelfus
The patient is a 26-year-old woman,
gravida 0, para 0. She was first seen in our Center because of a longitudinal
3-cm septum was seen on vaginal examination and uterine malformation was
suggested. Transvaginal US revealed uterine anomaly in the form of uterus
didelfus (double uterus, double cervix). Vaginal septum was excised. She
appeared in three months after initial scan because of missed two menstrual
periods.
Ultrasound examination revealed 9-weeks pregnancy
with two embrios each one in another uterine cavity. The prenatal course
proceeded uneventfully, both foetuses continued to grow equally and symmetrically.
In 32nd week the patient was admitted to the obstetrical department and
she visited home on weekends. At the 40th week of gestation a cesarian
section was performed and normal healthy 3100-g male and 3000-g
female infants were delivered.
The postoperative course was uneventfull and
the mother and infants were discharged from the hospital on the seventh
postpartum day.
